Ideas

For you

In order to ensure you have a great experience I want to provide some options of locations and some ideas for you & your session. These are geared towards family, extended family, couples, proposal, & engagement sessions.

Below is a list of locations within the Holland area that you can check out before hand and see if this is something you’d be interested in.

I also have put some tips and tricks for colors & outfit ideas below as well. Only take this as a suggestion. Your photos are meant to be YOU. If you have a place in mind and outfits in place, amazing, and if you don’t this is for you! ENJOY!

Paw Paw Park

Paw Paw Park is one of my favorite places to shoot at because of this beautiful willow tree, as well as the surrounding landscapes. It doesn’t have a lot of color besides green, but nonetheless a BEAUTIFUL park in the spring/summer months and into the fall season as well.

Van Raalte Farms

Van Raalte is a classic photo stop in Holland, especially for the fall months, but all year round too. The surrounding trees, fields, barn and house all make great photo ops for a couple, families, anyone.

Riley Trails

Riley Trails is a very gorgeous place for photos. They have amazing trails that surround you with tall pines, multiple paths, the bridge, the pond, all of it is beautiful for photos! Multiple options for all the seasons.

The Felt Mansion

The Felt mansion is a very popular place for a wedding venue but also for photos. It provides multiple photo stops with the mansion itself, the carriage house, the chapel and the large woods surrounding. There is also a path to the beach if you are willing to take a little hike.

The Beaches of West Michigan

I can’t say ENOUGH about Michigan beaches. We have some of the most beautiful beaches here on the West side. From Holland to Grand Haven I have a list of smaller beaches that are a little more private and easier to take photos at, and of course it is not just limited to those areas!

Additional Places I’ve shot at and loved!

~The Highlands- Grand Rapids

~ Downtown Grand Rapids (anywhere really, such cool buildings, stairs, bridges etc.)

~Spring Grove Park, Grandville

~Holland Greenhouse, Holland

~Windmill Island, Holland

~And of course I’m open to any place you like as well!

Outfit Ideas

First I will say what you wear to your session is UP TO YOU! Do first, what makes you, your family, significant other comfortable. These are your photos!

But if you are stumped here are some tips!

I suggest that you go more of a neutral color route to make your photos look timeless. Now what do I mean by that? I would avoid bright neons, or crazy patterns, zebra, cheveron, any animal print.

Color is great and I encourage it but in more muted tones!

I also encourage mixing different textures, colors, styles of clothes, and patterns. Example, a sweater and skirt for mom, a flannel for dad and brother, and a dress for sister. Mixing all these different things creates a unique look but finding similar colors in them to tie together, makes them blend well!

I hope this helped, and if you have more questions or need more help don’t hesitate to reach out!
